چکیده

Kelly and associates (8, 10, 20) have demon strated that phosphorus-32 is incorporated to a greater extent into the liver, kidney, and spleen deoxyribonucleic acid in mice bearing mammary carcinomas than into those of normal control mice. Comparable results were also obtained by those investigators (19) when tumor-bearing mice were given injections of either formate-carbon-14 (C14) or glycine-2-C14. More recently, Kelly and Jones (9) observed that repeated injections of tissue mashes bring about changes in the nucleic acid turnover of spleen and liver in normal animals. Tyner, Heidelberger, and LePage (24) have found that the specific activity of P32 in the deoxyribonucleotides was lower in normal liver than in the liver of rats bearing Flexner-Jobling carcinoma at 12 and 48 hours following administration of the isotope. The specific activity of adenine-C14 and guanine-C14 followed the same trend following ad ministration of glycine-2-C14. The present paper reports observations which establish a stimulation of adenine-8-C14 uptake into the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of various tissues of tumor-bearing mice. In addition, a similar stimulation of adenine uptake was observed when normal mice were given single injections of tumor homogenate.

Estimating Tumor/Non-Tumor Uptake from Radiolabeled Monoclonal Antibodies using Scintigraphic Images and Dissecting the Animal Models

Introduction: Biodistribution study in animal models bearing tumors is one of the most important procedures in evaluation of fractional uptake of radiopharmaceuticals in the tumor and non-tumor organs. The aim of this study was to develop a new software-based method to determine activities that accumulate in the main organs as well as the tumor based on scintigraphy images, thereby obviating th...

Studies with psicofuranine in the tumor-bearing rat.

The effects of the antitumor agent, psicofuranine, have been investigated in rats with subcutaneously transplanted Walker 256 adenocarcinomas. Administration of the drug at 500 mg/kg/day for 1 week caused a marked regression and a sharp drop in utilization of phosphate-P m uptake in the tumors. Longer treatment also produced significant decreases in phosphate uptake by host tissues. I t was pos...

Evaluation of a new bombesin analogue labeled with 99mTc as potential targeted tumor scintigraphic agent

Background: Bombesin shows high affinity for Gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) receptors which over expressed on the cell surfaces of several human tumors particularly in prostate and breast cancers. The aim of this study was labeling of designed analogue with99mTc via HYNIC and Tricine /EDDA and evaluation as potential targeted tumor scintigraphic agent. Materials and Methods: HYNIC-Bombesin wa...
